Search Engine OptimizationCopywritingThere are a couple of things to keep in mind when copywriting (writing content for web pages):
For a decent search engine ranking, you should try to have around 200 - 250 words of text on every page of your site, with a few keywords and phrases strategically thrown into the content for good measure. There are a lot of sites on the internet that are highly flash-driven or graphical (see Common Mistakes). It's all good if you are a well recognized brand name and corporate identity, but if you aren't Coca-cola or McDonalds, trying to rank well with no content (from the search engines point of view) is difficult, to say the least. The web site might look really cool and funky to the visitor, but all the search engine can see is a few lines of code with no HTML content. Write copy for your user. Make sure it is clear, concise, focused and flows well. Ambiguous, misguided copy becomes confusing and if it doesn't make sense to your visitor it's probable that they'll go elsewhere for the same information. Page title is extremely important. It would be one of the simplest methods of optimizing, yet one of the most overlooked. Construct your page title using your keyword or keyphrase for that particular page, along with your business name. For example: "Copywriting for SEO - iPower Search." |
